Can I buy the Class Calendar software and host it myself?
We host the system on the schools' behalf, because this is the most economic solution for almost every type of school. The fixed costs associated with running a secure, certified eCommerce booking system - including Payment Service Provider relationships, high bandwidth, high availability, rapid software updates, and disaster recovery - are significant. For many schools, the fixed costs of maintaining such a system would be greater than Class Calendar's monthly charges.
Can Class Calendar work as a point-of-sale or telephone sale solution?
Yes! The Class Calendar application is founded on the idea that all points of contact - web, phone and face-to-face - should be handled by the same system. So Class Calendar can be used as a self-service web solution, and at the same time can be used by a telephone receptionist or at the point-of-sale, where your staff can act on behalf of customers. As a point-of-sale system, Class Calendar can log each settlement as cash, cheque, or any other payment form.
Is Class Calendar available anywhere in the world?
Your customers can be anywhere in the world. And you - as a school administrator - can be anywhere in the world too. We work with sport school administrators who travel widely to practice their sport. The ability to manage their school from any Internet cafe is a key advantage.
If you nominate Class Calendar as your card merchant - see Pricing section - then we can transfer payment to your school account in any country, and in any currency. If you are acting as your own card merchant, we can help you select a Payment Service Provider that can interact with your chosen bank.
Can Class Calendar be localised to my country's currency and tax regime?
Yes. To provide the most complete localisation solution, we are working with potential franchising partners in order to be able to offer on-the-ground local support. As a potential Class Calendar user outside of the United Kingdom, you may be an ideal franchisee. See our Franchising page for more details.
Alongside our franchising initiative, we are currently evaluating a number of countries and locations in which to locate Class Calendar servers. By providing multiple global locations, we can minimise network latency and maximise performance for customers and schools.
What currencies can I work with?
Your school can elect to present its offerings in any one currency recognised by the credit and debit card companies - that includes US Dollar, Euro, UK Pound and a great many others. You can elect to be billed by Class Calendar in either that currency, or UK Pounds.
Does Class Calendar work with multiple languages?
Yes, it can. Class Calendar was designed from the ground up to handle web page templates, in multiple languages. Thus, your school's Class Calendar presence can be delivered in one or more languages, as appropriate for your customers and staff - irrespective of which country you operate in. Call us with your requirements.
Can I use WorldPay or PayPal as my Payment Service Provider?
Class Calendar provides a seamless experience for customers by integrating its own secure payment forms into the reservation system. Using Payment Service Providers such as WorldPay or PayPal - which present their own payment forms - would break that experience. Thus, Class Calendar does not favour these Payment Service Providers.
WorldPay and PayPal are both expensive from the school's point of view - both have substantial set-up charges, and both charge more per transaction than Class Calendar's own card merchant services.
Does Class Calendar have a eCommerce retail solution?
Yes. You can use Class Calendar to sell products an vouchers, as well as taking course bookings. Class Calendar works as a complete solution for schools that sell equipment and training materials, in addition to taking bookings. Class Calendar can also be used alongside any other web-based eCommerce system, and can process payments through the same payment service provider as your existing eCommerce retail system.
Can I invoice customers, instead of using card payments?
Yes. Class Calendar can be used to take payments by credit card. It can also be used in a business-to-business setting where customers or their companies are invoiced for transations. You can even configure the system to enable one or the other to be selected at the checkout.

Technical answers ...
What sort of computer do I need to run Class Calendar?
You can access Class Calendar with any computer - the only requirement is that you have an Internet connection. Using Class Calendar, you can even run your school bookings from an Internet cafe! We take web standards very seriously - so Class Calendar works with any graphical web browser, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera and Safari.
Class Calendar strongly recommends the Firefox web browser.
What sort of Internet connection do I need?
Access to Class Calendar will work smoothly with an ordinary modem dial-up connection. But the Class Calendar servers are very fast, which means that most of the time taken to deliver a web page is network time - thus, you will get considerable benefit from broadband or high-speed leased lines.
What are the technical limits of my presence on Class Calendar?
Essentially, there are no limits - your school can present any number of courses and classes, and hold any number of customer records. Class Calendar does not charge for your database usage - only for the completed payment transactions.
Class Calendar is able to handle a very wide range of transaction rates for your school - from a handful of transactions per week, up to tens of thousands per day. In order for us to maximise the quality of service, if your predicted business level is more than around one thousand transactions per day, you should talk to us about your requirements.
I have an existing customer database - can I use this with Class Calendar?
Yes, you can. You only need to export your customer data - in either comma-separated value (CSV) or extensible markup language (XML) formats - and upload this to your Class Calendar account. You can do this once, when you first start using Class Calendar, or synchronise your database with Class Calendar at any time.
More information in the Web services section.
Can I download my school's customer database from Class Calendar?
Yes. You can download all data about your customers, other users and orders from Class Calendar at any time, via either a user interface or automated client.
More information in the Web services section.
Can I decorate Class Calendar web pages with my own graphics?
Class Calendar offers a range of customisation options: simple customisation - of logos, background images, and other graphical elements - can be performed at any time by the school, using web forms. We can also help with more complex customisation covering button design and any other layout issues.
We can offer standard design-and-build packages for your school's web brochure pages, with our preferred graphics company:
